Rancho Cañada Village is a proposed 280 home, mixed-income, compact, pedestrian-friendly new neighborhood in Carmel Valley, Monterey County, California. Rancho Cañada Village is located on 72 acres currently in active golf use and part of the west course at Rancho Cañada Golf Club. The site is within easy walking distance to employment opportunities, shopping, education, religious, recreational and public transportation opportunities. Fifty percent of the homes will be income deed restricted and dedicated for affordable and workforce persons and families as defined by the County of Monterey. The affordability restrictions will be maintained in perpetuity by means of deed restrictions.

The project planners are nationally-acclaimed Urban Design Associates, a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based planning and architecture firm with over 40 years of experience in developing mixed-income neighborhoods throughout the country.

Rancho Cañada Village has been designed using Traditional Neighborhood Design planning principles. This new neighborhood will provide a variety of housing types and lot sizes to meet a variety of needs. An interconnected street system with sidewalks and street trees will promote walkability. Circulation will emphasize pedestrian and bicycle movement while still allowing safe and efficient auto use. Garages will be accessed through lanes that are located behind homes. Architecture will be responsive to local climate and vernacular, and built in accordance with response to an approved Pattern Book. Parks and open space will be permanently dedicated and conveniently located to all residents. All utilities are located close to the site boundaries. Water rights are secured and usage will be reduced from the current golf course irrigation.
